Darnell Miller is the longest-tenured member of the Wheeling Jamboree, America's second-longest continuous radio program, where he has been performing for more than 50 years. Darnell's first record was a Starday custom pressing on his own Dale label in 1957. At the time, Darnell was appearing regularly on Channel 6-TV in Bluefield, VA, where he was backed by the house band: The Swing Kings. Darnell recorded eight more sides for Starday between 1958 and 1959 (two of which remain unreleased), before eventually finding success with Gene Autry's Challenge label in the mid-60s. After a decade-long break from recording, Darnell went back in the studio in 1999 and he has released four CDs since, frequently charting on the European Country Music Association [ECMA] charts. |
